The 1998 film 54 was a total bust when it came to actually depicting the real Studio 54, the NYC hotspot that was the favorite haunt of celebs like David Bowie, Andy Warhol, Liza Minnelli and Bianca Jagger, but it turns out the original cut of the film was far different and, from the sounds of it, far, far better.
The film starred Ryan Phillippe, Salma Hayek, Breckin Meyer, Neve Campbell and Mike Myers, and in the original script and first cut of the film from writer-director Mark Christopher, Phillippe’s character was bisexual, enjoying a little action with Meyer’s character, who, though married, didn’t seem to mind much.
This version was reportedly shown at Outfest in 2008, and now the clip of Ryan Phillippe and Breckin Meyer going at it can be seen above.
Take a look, and someone please start a petition to get this version rereleased in theaters.
