Ryan Reynolds Wants Deadpool To Have A Boyfriend In The Sequel

"I certainly wouldn’t be the guy standing in the way of that."

The buzz for the Deadpool movie is so major that a sequel is already in the works before the first film has eehit theaters.

And star Ryan Reynolds is letting us know at least one thing on his wishlist for the next installment: He wants the Merc with a Mouth to have a boyfriend.

At a screening in New York this week, Reynolds said he "loved" that the character was pansexual.

"I love that he can break any boundary. In the future, I hope we get to do that more."

"I certainly wouldn’t be the guy standing in the way of that," he said of Deadpool getting a male love interest. "That would be great."

Producer Simon Kinberg said the filmmakers wanted to honor the character's sexuality in the first movie, "but we did it in subtle ways—there’s veiled references to it in this film. It’s in the DNA of the character."
