Saints Linebacker Jonathan Vilma Is Afraid To Shower With Gay Teammate: Today In Gay

Jonathan Vilma, a linebacker for the New Orleans Saints, is not eager for an NFL player to come out of the closet. "I think he would not be accepted as much as we think he would be accepted,' Vilma told the NFL Network.

Seems Vilma is worried about locker room etiquette: "Imagine if he's the guy next to me, and you know, I get dressed, naked, taking a shower, the whole nine, and it just so happens he looks at me, how am I supposed to respond?"

It's funny how a guy who can shake off being tackled by a 300-lb mountain of muscles completely loses his shit at the thought of someone glancing at him.

Maybe you could just, oh we don't know, do nothing and go about your business.

Vilma, a spokesman for Under Armour, says he doesn't harbor any animosity towards LGBT people: "I don't want people to just naturally assume, oh, we're all homophobic. That's really not the case."

No, Jonathan, just you.

Bill de BlasioBill de Blasio, the newly minted mayor of New York City is not down with the St. Patrick's Day Parade's policy of excluding LGBT groups. So he's boycotting the legendary parade, which takes place this year on March 17.

"I will be participating in a number of other events to honor the Irish heritage of this city," said de Blasio on Tuesday. "But I simply disagree with the organizers of that parade."

DiBlasio also skipped the 152-year-old procession when he was public advocate, though his predecessors, mayors Mike Bloomberg and Rudy Giuliani, did march in the parade, which draws more than a million spectators every year.

Bent HoeieNorway's openly gay health minister, Bent Hoeie, is going to Paralympics in Sochi—and he's bringing his husband.  "I cannot wait to watch and support all the Norwegian athletes," said Hoeie, his government's official representative at the Paralympics. "These are athletes with disabilities who perform at a very high level."

The Paralympics are traditionally held at the Olympics host city after the games have ended.

Hoeie is focusing on the accomplishments of the athletes over politics, but says "everyone understands what two married men think about gay rights."

Norway has won more Winter Olympic medals than any other country and is favored to snatch some serious gold in Sochi.  In addition, Oslo has submitted a bid to be the host city for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Homosexuals have broad protections in Norway, which legalized civil marriage for same-sex couples in 2009.

Dmitry T, CEO of Hunter, says all members of the hookup app were sent a warning that read: “You will be arrested and jailed for gay propaganda in Sochi according to Russian Federal Law #135 Sektion 6″

The app has been completely blocked in Adler and Sochi, where the Winter Olympic Games are due to open on Friday.

“Hunters is blocked in Sochi and Adler now, and some 72,000 user profiles were deleted throughout Russia," Dmitry T told Towleroad. “I think that this attack is connected to increasing censorship of the Internet and very soon other gay-dating resources in Russia will face similar problems.”

Last year the popular gay hookup app Grinder was blocked in Turkey, a sign some say of growing fundamentalism and anti-gay attitudes in the country.
