Sam Smith, One Direction, Ellie Goulding Unite For Remake Of "Do They Know It's Christmas?": WATCH

Thirty years ago Sting, Banarama, Culture Club, George Michael and every other British pop star in the 80s got together to form the super-group Band Aid and recorded the charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" Now the song is getting a remake with current UK hitmakers like Sam Smith, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Oly Murs, Rita Ora and Paloma Faith singing verses—plus old-timers Bono and Sinead O'Connor, who appeared on the first version.

Adele was part of Sir Bob Geldof’s initial announcement, but was a no show. Still there's plenty of star power on the song, which debuted last night on the UK's X Factor.

Check out the video—shot through a warm, fuzzy. Christmas filter—below. Note how Smith is given the same verse Boy George sang in the original verse.

The original "Do They Know It's Christmas" raised funds for the 1984 famine in Ethiopia, while proceeds from the Band Aid 30 version will go toward stopping the spread of Ebola.
