Sam Smith Shares Gross Homophobic Poem To Show How Awful His Trolls Are

Gay pop stars are starting to stake out No Hater zones.

Sam Smith is no stranger to trolls online.

The 23-year-old Grammy award-winning singer usually takes his haters with a grain of salt, but last night, he decided to light one up on Instagram to show just how disgusting and hateful some people can be online.

The image he posted, a screenshot of an account created for the sole purpose of smearing him, included a gross poem:

Smith wrote: "This genuinely doesn't offend me, coz I'm way too tick skinned when it comes to this kind of shit. BUT I just wanted to share this with everyone, so you can see how homophobia is still SO PRESENT in our society!!"

Perhaps shaming homophobic Internet trolls back into their caves will become more common moving forward. Over the weekend, Mika used Instagram to show the world how several posters for his upcoming gig in Florence, Italy, were defaced with the Italian word for "faggot."

He posted the photo with the hashtag “#rompiamoilsilenzio”, or “let’s break the silence," and encouraged others to do the same.

"It’s a testament to popular desire for change and progress. This is about far more than me, my defaced posters," he said. "This is about everyone. Looking away is a luxury. Some people have nowhere to turn in the face of intolerance. I am amazed and inspired by these events."

On a lighter note — Smith was also honored with his very own wax figure at Madame Tussauds in San Francisco this week! "Possibly the most surrealist experience of my life," he wrote on Instagram.

Congrats, Sam!
