Sarah Michelle Gellar Confirms She's Joining The "Cruel Intentions" Reboot
It looks like reports that producers of a planned Cruel Intentions reboot were going after original star Sarah Michelle Gellar were accurate: This week, Gellar shared the news that she was joining the cast of the sequel, based on the 1999 film.
On Instagram Gellar posted a Throwback Thursday then-and-now photo with the film's director, Roger Kumble, and producer Neal Moritz.
"This picture was taken on the eve of production on the original #cruelintentions. Its me #rogerkumble (director) and #nealmoritz (exec producer), and the other is a picture of us now on the eve of production on the new #cruelintentions," she wrote in the caption.
"That's right "everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way" #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv ) on the new #Crueltv."
She followed up with another picture from the original shoot.
Gellar will reprise the role of Kathryn Merteuil for the NBC pilot, which sees her as a scheming businesswoman trying to control Bash Casey, Sebastian Valmont's son with Annette hargrove.
Sophina Brown (Numbers), Taylor John Smith (Insidious: Chapter 3) and Samantha Logan have also joined the cast.
