Sarah Paulson Wants To Play Trump In Next Election-Themed "AHS" Season

"That's an acting challenge to be sure."

Jokes about the 2016 election resembling American Horror Story turned to reality last month when Ryan Murphy announced that the next season of his spooky series would be inspired by the political nightmare from last November. And with casting currently underway, AHS vet Sarah Paulson had some interesting thoughts on who should play our president.

"I'd like to play Donald Trump," Paulson said when the The Hollywood Reporter asked her who from the returning ensemble should play the commander in chief. "If Donald Trump is going to be a character in it, why not? That's an acting challenge to be sure."

Murphy has not yet confirmed whether Trump or Hillary Clinton will even be characters in the upcoming season, but has said that the show's presidential candidates will play smaller roles in the season, overall.

"What I’m interested in doing is not just the obvious, single-minded point of view, but rather express all sides of that equation," he told THR. "And then all of the stuff that I’m developing now is going to be about illuminating and highlighting people who don’t have a voice in our culture—people who are ignored by the current administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away."

The seventh season of American Horror Story is slated to premiere later this year on FX.
