Secret Deoderant Blows "Bathroom Bill" Paranoia Away With Amazing New Ad

"There's no wrong way to be a woman."

A new ad from Secret quietly, and powerfully, exemplifies the oft-contested truth that there is no one way to express gender.

The spot opens on queer artist Karis Wilde as she stands in a bathroom stall. She's about to exit when she hears a group of presumably ciswomen enter the restroom.

She leans against the wall. She doesn't say anything, but her face conveys the anxiety and fear she feels as she mulls over whether or not to join the other girls.

Finally, she steps back, takes a deep breath and decides to take the plunge. As she does, superimposed text reads: “Stress test #8260 — Dana finds the courage to show there’s no wrong way to be a woman.”

“I always have moments of insecurity but I have conditioned myself to act unbothered,” Wilde told Queerty when asked if the scene bears any resemblance to her daily life.

“While shooting, I allowed myself to feel vulnerable. It terrified me how much I’ve stored all those emotions; I almost cried in the middle of taping.”
