This Bathroom Bill Parody Is Even Better When Compared To Ramblings Of Father-Daughter Bigots

Both videos have surfaced in response to Texas' Senate Bill 6.

As Texas' Senate Bill 6 heads into its first hearing this week, both sides of the bathroom bill debate are using videos to make their cases for or against the legislation.

In support of SB6, which would require transgender students to use bathrooms in accordance with the gender on their birth certificate, faith-based nonprofit Texas Voices launched a video campaign showing three Texans reflecting on transgender bathroom rights.

In one clip, a fourth grader named Shiloh speaks with her dad about how she'd feel using the restroom with a transgender peer.

"Shiloh, how does it make you feel to know that a boy could be sharing a bathroom with you?," her father asks.

"It makes me very, very uncomfortable," the 10-year-old responds.

In contrast to the pro-SB6 message, Seriously.TV released a parody video blasting the conservative argument that anti-trans bathroom bills are all about women's safety.

“It’s so lovely to see that you finally care about violence against women. But the truth is... I don’t feel threatened by trans women. Why should I?” the self-proclaimed "white cisgender woman" asks. “There have been zero cases of attacks by trans women in bathrooms. Speaking of which, I thought it might be helpful if I shared some of the things that you support that actually threaten my life on a daily basis.”

She goes on to list some of the real, government-supported threats women experience, such as the closing down of domestic violence shelters, opposition to the Violence Against Women act and the repeal of Obamacare.

SB6 was introduced this January by Sen. Lois Kolkhorst and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick. The proposed legislation's been widely opposed, most notably by the NFL and a group of over 100 A-list celebrities.

The Texas Privacy Act is scheduled to have a hearing on March 7 in the Senate State Affairs committee.
