"Sense8" Two-Hour Movie Finale Gets Release Date, Title

The beloved sci-fi series is finally getting the ending it deserves.

Fans of Lana and Lilly Wachowsk's groundbreaking series Sense8 were heartbroken when Netflix announced last summer it was canceling the show after two seasons. We were lured off the edge with the promise of a two-hour movie to wrap things up more respectfully.

Now we've finally learned that Sense8: Together Until The End will drop on Netflix Friday, June 8, and will be available in more than 20 languages.

Debuting back in 2015, Sense8 centered on a group of eight people all born the same day who have a supernatural connection and the ability to communicate with each other across the globe. In addition to its intricate storytelling and sci-fi elements, the show was praised for its inclusion of queer characters like closeted actor Lito (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and trans hacker Nomi (Jamie Clayton).

When news of Sense8's cancellation hit, Lana wrote a heartfelt letter thanking fans for their support and pushing to have the cancellation reconsidered.

"The passionate letters, the petitions, the collective voice that rose up like the fist of Sun to fight for this show was beyond what anyone was expecting," she said. Wachowski even hinted she was going to go ahead and write Season 3, with the hope of another studio picking it up.

Cindy Holland, Netflix's vice president for original content, praised the show as "bold, emotional, stunning, kick ass, and outright unforgettable.”
