Anti-Gay Groups Staged A Nationwide School Walkout Over Inclusive Sex Education

"Pornographic sex ed is being implemented across our globe in an attempt to indoctrinate our children with 'sexual rights.'"

Anti-gay activists protested comprehensive sex-ed in public schools by encouraging parents to keep their children home Monday, a perversion of student walkouts after the Parkland school shooting. Using #HandsOffOurKids, groups like the Family Research Council and Liberty Counsel claim teaching inclusive health classes is "pornographic."

"We are uniting with parents across the globe to demand that our rights as parents be respected regarding the teaching of sexuality and sexual orientation. #HandsOffOurKids! #SexEdSitOut."

“Pornographic sex ed is being implemented across our globe in an attempt to indoctrinate our children with 'sexual rights,’” reads a form letter parents were told to forward to their kids' schools. “This is unacceptable and [I am] joining others both nationally and globally in taking a stand to say ‘enough!’ “

Right-wing blogger Elizabeth Johnston, a.k.a. Activist Mommy, told The Washington Times that most good parents wouldn't stand "for the kind of graphic, gender-bending sex ed" in schools now.

Last month Johnston posted a Facebook video titled, "They Are Coming For Our Children!" In the accompanying post, she accused LGBT activists of "brainwashing children through graphic sex ed, medicating our children against our will, stealing our children through the courts, and sabotaging our children's sporting events."

Evangelical leader Franklin Graham announced the sit out to his followers on Monday.

"Today some parents across the country are pulling their students out in protest of the sexualized school curriculum being promoted by the progressive agenda. Know what is being taught in your child’s school and be prepared to walk out. I encourage you to be involved, know what's going on, and let your voice be heard."

The group CitizenGO, which previously sponsored a “Free Speech Bus” tour that attacked transgender people, launched a Sex Ed Sit Out petition claiming comprehensive health education is akin to child molestation and "a social engineering experiment."

"We will not stand for our tax money being used to promote sexual liberation, deviance, and gender confusion to our precious kids," the petition read in part. "When your child doesn’t sign in at school, the school looses federal funding for that day. Since the schools aren’t listening to the cries of parents to stop corrupting their kids, we will hit them in their wallets! Hopefully parents will begin to have tremendous success getting school boards to listen after this."

It's not clear how many, if any, students were kept home on Monday.
