Halleloo! Shangela Will Host 2019 GLAAD Media Awards in New York

Because she's sickening, that's why!

Step aside because Shangela is back again!

The RuPaul’s Drag Race legend has been announced as host for the 30th annual GLAAD Media Awards New York City gala, which will take place on Saturday, May 4.

This will not be the first time Shangela has hit the GLAAD Media Awards stage this year. Earlier this month she brought the crowd to their feet when she slayed an epic medley of Beyoncé’s biggest hits—in front of Queen Bey herself—at the GLAAD Media Awards in L.A. Ross Mathews hosted that event, but now Shangela will be taking over hosting duties for the East Coast celebration.

In addition to Shangie, other big names slated to appear at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards include cast members from FX’s Pose, Samantha Bee, Don Lemon, and Madonna, who will become the first woman ever to receive GLAAD’s Advocate for Change Award. Andy Cohen was also previously announced as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Vito Russo award.

Since Madonna is being honored does this mean we will get to see Shangela perform a medley of Madge’s biggest hits? A girl can dream.

Don’t worry if you can’t score tickets to the ceremony because for the first time the New York GLAAD Media Awards will be broadcast on Logo, Sunday, May 12 at 8/7c.

I write about drag queens. Dolly Parton once ruffled my hair and said I was "just the cutest thing ever."
