#TBT: When Shangela Met Mulder And Scully On "The X-Files"

The truth is out there, halleloo!

It's been two years since The X-Files returned to Fox for a highly-anticipated tenth season, and now FBI agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are back on the case as the paranormal series' new season premieres January 3.

Over the years Mulder and Scully have run into the share of creatures, including stretchy serial killer Eugene Tooms, Flukeman and plenty of grey aliens—but nothing prepared them for their encounter with the RuPaul's Drag Race queen, Shangela.

The All Stars Season 3 contestant made an appearance on last season's fan favorite episode, "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster," written and directed by Darin Morgan, who was the man behind other classic episodes like "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" and "José Chung's From Outer Space."

In Morgan's tenth season episode, the FBI agents were on the trail of a monster terrorizing a small town, and they came upon Shangela, who was playing Anabelle, a prostitute who had a run in with the horned monster.

“I remember watching the show as a teenager. I never imagined I’d one day be working on it,” said Shangela (whose real name is D.J. Pierce) . “It was fun playing Annabelle. I think writers are taking more chances with characters on TV, and that means more opportunities for diverse actors. To that I say ’Halleloo!'”

Shangela probably won't be making another appearance on The X-Files this year (though you never know), but don't worry you will still get your fill of "the Nancy Drew of drag" when the queen competes for her place in the Drag Race Hall of Fame in the third season of All Stars, premiering January 25 on VH1.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 3 premieres Thursday, January 25 at 8/7c on VH1.
