The First Time Shania Twain Saw A Shania Twain Drag Queen

Man, he felt like a woman.

Country-pop legend Shania Twain finally released her new album, Now, last year, 15 years since her last studio album, Up.

With all of her iconic costumes and pop tunes, Twain has always been a favorite among gay men. In a new interview with Pride Source the "Gonna Getcha Good" songstress was asked about her relationship with her LGBT fans, and what it was like seeing a Shania Twain drag queen for the first time.

"I work with a lot of gay people and they're just a part of my almost daily family world. So, they're just part of my friends and my community," revealed Twain.

"I guess more when I started to become successful, I was really surrounded by more creative people, and there are so many creative people in this industry who are gay, both men and women. It just becomes the norm."

She then recalled the time she went to one of the legendary female impersonator shows in Las Vegas, and how she was surprised to find women from country music represented—including herself.

"Three of the artists that were in the show were myself, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton. I thought that was so wonderful. It's like, 'OK, we're country artists, and we're in there!' Any artist that is, on a visual level, very expressive would make a great imposter night subject!"

Twain must not get to too many drag shows if she's surprised to see a Dolly or Reba queen, but it's fun that she was there and saw herself impersonated onstage.

Dolly has talked for years about her gay fans who dress up as her and come to her shows, so maybe when Twain hits the road for her new album there will be a boy or two in the audience dressed in a leopard jumpsuit.

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on VH1.
