NewNowNext First: Sharon Needles' Video For "Call Me On The Ouija Board"

When it comes to the Queen of Screams, Sharon Needles, any old video won't do. So when it was time to launch her new single, "Call Me on the Ouija Board, " she enlisted Santiago Felipe, one of New York's premier nightlife chroniclers, to direct and produce.

"At first, Sharon and I were going for the whole idea of it being a series of those cheesy '1-900' sex-hotline commercials from the 1990s," Felipe tells NewNowNext. "Then the line "a little touch of magic/In this world obsessed with science," struck a chord and I realized it was from Death Becomes Her. So I went back to Sharon with the thought of 'what if they were sex-hotline commercials... but with horror-movie themes?'"

Loving the idea, Sharon added some chilling touches of her own: "We ended up with "Sharon Needles luring you into a possessed TV for this ride through horror-movie channels," says Felipe, revealing there are knowing nods to Poltergeist, The Exorcist, Children of the Corn, and other kiddie-themed screamathons. Says Felipe, "My favorite is Stephen King's It."
