Benedict Cumberbatch's "Sherlock" Christmas Special Will Be Set In Victorian England

The world's most famous mystery-solving duo–sorry Scooby and Shaggy–are heading back to their roots in Sherlock's Victorian England-set Christmas special.

After a photo of Cumberbatch wearing more traditional Sherlock Holmes garb emerged, fans of the BBC program began to wonder what was in store. A costume party turned crime scene? Or perhaps some sort of comical dream?

Luckily, series show runner and producer Steven Moffat gave Entertainment Weekly all the answers: "The special is its own thing," he said. "We wanted to do [a Victorian version of Sherlock], but it had to be a special, it had to be a separate entity on its own. It’s kind of in its own little bubble."

So there you have it: for one night only we'll get to see how Cumberbatch's Sherlock would do in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Victorian universe. Intrigued?
