Shipping News: Best Slash Saturday Ever!

Plus, shipping all the Doctors, the Sherlock trailer has finally arrived and the Internet spent seven hours watching One Direction?

There is so much to talk about that I really don’t know where to begin. Honestly it’s overwhelming, but in a good way. I mean we got new Teen Wolf footage, Larry King interviewed Misha Collins, Doctor Who turned 50, One Direction did unmentionable things in front of a webcam and there was a Sherlock teaser… finally.

Fandom News Round-up

Let’s start with Misha Collins because he’s always a wonderful place to start any discussion of fandom. I already said he was interviewed by Larry King and you can make of that what you will but more importantly he tweeted this:

#5 below makes me sad. If we each pledged to spend an hour a day on adult-content websites, we'd reverse this trend! http://t.co/uoPbdIxgnq

There was also some stuff on Twitter about Supernatural writer Robbie Thompson writing a Super Sleepy crossover (jokingly of course) and the moral of this story is that you should be following Orlando Jones on Twitter. But the most important news is that I have found a very short (too short) Fake Boyfriends fic featuring Sleepy Hollow’s Frank Irving and Luke Morales! It’s called Come on Now, Play on It by limenitis_arthemis! And no, I am never going to stop reccing Fake Boyfriends.

Introducing Big Bang Press: “a small independent publisher located in the US and UK, representing emerging talent from the fan writing community.” Big Bang Press recently launched a kickstarter campaign to publish three original novels by well known fan fiction authors. It’s worth checking out, slash fans, because you will find some familiar faces (or, well, pseudonyms) among the authors. (For $500 you can make gyzym finish that fic!) Be sure to check out the Big Bang Press Tumblr for more information and you can find responses to the project (both positive and negative) in the Tumblr tag.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOCTOR WHO!

Anonymous asked slashcolumn: Can the next shipping news be about Doctor Who since we are preparing for "The Day of the Doctor"?

Well I’m sorry we couldn’t help with the preparations (our new bi-weekly schedule means that we might miss a couple of things), but we can always help with the after party! Because it’s not everyday that a show like Doctor Who turns 50, it deserves quite the party don’t you think?

Can we talk about how fantastic the banter between Ten and Eleven was? Because it was brilliant! So much chemistry between David Tennant and Matt Smith, and yes I am shipping it. In fact here’s a short fic featuring Tennant and Smith getting cozy. Come on - they were constantly comparing screwdrivers, could they be any more obvious?

No judgement, it’s ship and let ship here at The Shipping News. There was also the fact that Ten referred to the Tardis as a ‘he’ - here’s hoping this inspires a bunch of fics in which the Tardis is personified as male. Is that a thing yet? Please tell me that’s a thing (and post some recs in the comments).

So what did you think about The Day of The Doctor?

Accidentally Shipped: Daleks/Cybermen

(Artist: RobertMakesStuff)

Yes, we are going there. I know the cybermen were absent from the 50th but seeing Billie Piper’s beautiful face again reminded me of the Series 2 finale (Doomsday)where the Daleks and the Cybermen engaged in the ultimate sass off.

I don’t know about you, but I think that if they could get past the whole exterminate/delete thing they could make a really cute couple.

Tease, tease, TEASERS!

At the beginning of last week Teen Wolf gave us three trailers featuring Stiles, Allison and Scott. It seems as though they will be living up to their tagline, the McCall pack are all losing a grip on reality complete with creepy child singing “Row, row, row your boat” - why is there always creepy children singing?

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

There were also some promo images, which invariably led to this (because the Teen Wolf fandom is amazing):

Then there was the Sherlock teaser. It’s only 30 secs and about half of it is a close up of John’s mustache, but it’s enough for the content starved fandom. It’s certainly a step in the right direction, and I can’t wait for the fan fiction it inspires!

There might not be much to see in those 30 seconds but it’s worth it just for this:

The ultimate question is how will Sherlock react to John’s sexy new moustache, and what kind of fics will it inspire? (The answer is smut, it is going to inspire a lot of smut.)

One Day for One Direction

For those of you that were too busy flailing over Doctor Who and/or Sherlock - One Direction fans also had a big day on Saturday. The band spent 7 WHOLE HOURS streaming live in celebration of their new album. There were quite a few technical problems, but honestly it doesn’t really matter because those boys are adorable (not to mention utterly shippable) no matter what. If you have a spare 7 hours you can watch the entire live stream on Youtube.

But those of you that can’t spare the time can check out some highlights at MTV.com: One Direction's 1D Day: Relive Every Adorable Moment, GIF By GIF! Here’s a little something to entice you:
