Hannah Montana is getting hitched! After three-years of dating, reps for Miley Cyrus, 19, and Liam Hemsworth, 22, say the couple is getting married. This will be the first, and hopefully last, marriage for both.
Being Hollywood however, shocking engagements come around all the time, so here are five more that came as quite a surprise, all complete with teenagers.
Jerry Lee Lewis and Myra Gale Brown
He was the famed 22-year-old piano player taking the country by stormk and she was his 13-year-old cousin. Swoon. The marriage would end up completely destroying Jerry’s career but he and Myrna did get to be portrayed by Dennis Quaid and Winona Ryder in the 1989 film Great Balls of Fire.
Ashley Hamilton and Shannen Doherty
Shannen had two broken engagements and a whole bunch of bad press under her belt when she decided to wed Ashley, son of George Hamilton, in 1992. The marriage ended the following year as did Shannen’s stint on 90210, the show that made her a star. She is now on marriage number three.
Jeremy Thomas and Drew Barrymore
Reformed bad girl Drew was engaged to Leland Hayward at 16, singer Jamie Walters at 17 and Jeremy Thomas at 19, a Hollywood bartender she did end up marrying. The marriage only lasted two months and the star went on to marry Tom Green and, just a few days ago, Will Kopelman.
Dean Sheremet and LeAnn Rimes
The 19-year-old singer was going through a major legal battle with her father, who also served as her manager, when she married Dean, her backup dancer. The two held strong for quite some time, until she began having an affair with the also married Eddie Cibrian. Though she initially denied their relationship, LeAnn and Dean soon split and she wed Eddie.
Doug Hutchison and Courtney Alexis Stodden
We hate giving them press just as much as you all hate hearing about them, but when 51-year-old Doug and 16-year-old Courtney tied the knot it was all anyone could talk about. He now spends his days being shunned from Hollywood while she poses in “sexy” outfits for her Twitter followers.
