Should Conchita Wurst Replace Sam Smith As Bond Singer?

Some people aren't happy with Sam's "Spectre" theme

Sam Smith released his theme for the upcoming Bond film Spectre last week, and the reviews for "Writing's On The Wall" have been mixed, to say the least.

The dissenters have now started a petition to get Sam replaced, or at least have his theme song relegated to the closing credits, and instead have offered an alternative, Eurovision Queen Conchita Wurst!

As history-making as Sam is (he would be the first out singer to receive the Bond theme honor), the idea of the fabulous, life-affirming Conchita taking on such an iconic project is tantalizing and irresistible.

Let's face it, as Dame Shirley Bassey proved, the best Bond performers have been larger-than-life personalities, and can infuse the songs with their own spirit.

Conchita can certainly provide that, as her chill-inducing performance of "Rise Like A Phoenix" proves.

Come to think of it, "Rise Like A Phoenix" already sounds more like a classic Bond theme than the subdued and meandering "Writing's On The Wall"

The petition is calling for Conchita's newest single "Where Have All The Good Men Gone" to replace Sam's song, and while of course it's never going to happen, it's something for the producers of the next Bond theme to think about.
