Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea, “Problem”
Dubbed a “a sax-driven, 1990s-throwback-R&B jam” by Rolling Stone, “Problem” gives Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” a feminist twist with a rap by Azalea and an able assist from Swedish super-producer Max Martin.
Sam Smith, “Stay With Me”
With a voice like Boy George, the out crooner is a force to be reckoned with this summer. While “Stay” is more slow-burn than your usual summer jam, it’s the perfect anthem for that warm-weather crush who breaks your heart.
Sia’s latest is another doleful SoS contender—this one about hiding from your problems by partying too hard. It’s the Australian singer-songwriter’s first Hot 100 hit as a solo artist, but Sia has sung on Top Ten hits like David Guetta’s “Titanium” and Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones.”
Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX, “Fancy”
With a killer refrain and unforgettable video—a pitch-perfect homage to Clueless—Azalea’s latest is here to stay for some time. In it’s 11th week on the Hot 100, “Fancy” still had upward mobility, jumping from No 3. to No 2.
We like things simple in the summer—simple food, simple outfits and simple music. Canadian newcomer Kiesza gives us just that with this old-school jam that takes us back to the days of 90s House music. And the incredible single-take music video gives us life.
Nico & Vinz, “Am I Wrong”
This Afro-Caribbean jam has blown up with 21 million views on YouTube in just a week and 844,000 downloads on iTunes. There’s nothing wrong about that.
Icona Pop, “Get Lost”
The Swedish duo already had an earworm with “I Love It,” and seem poised to do it again with “Get Lost” the soundtrack for all those epic road trips.
Jason Derulo feat. Snoop Dogg, “Wiggle”
Derulo makes an obvious play for the song of the season, with a video featuring a pimped-out pool party and Snoop Dogg, no stranger to killer summer tracks.
Robyn and Röyksopp, “Do It Again”
“It hurts so good.”
