Song Of Summer, Round 4: Britney, Ellie Goulding, Avicii And The Dark Horses

britney-spears-ohh-la-la-650-430

Summer is (gulp) more than half way over, and a clear song of summer yet to emerge, though there are some serious contenders).  So far we've seen "Get Lucky," "Woman's World" and "We Can't Stop," hold their ground, but  recent arrival like Britney's "Ooh La La" are dogging their heels.  Plus, there are those songs which might not be burning up the charts, but that are burning up the dance floor. ("Boy is a Bottom" and "Wake Me Up," we're looking at you!)

Check out the current crop of nominees and vote for the one you think will make it to the finish line as the Song of Summer.

Did we miss a Song of Summer candidate? Name that tune in the comments section!

 "Burn,"  Ellie Goulding

Goulding latest single came out of nowhere, but the infectious radio-friendly tune produced by Ryan Tedder has her doing a unique spin on the pop-princess thing.

"Ooh La La," Britney Spears

Will Britney "run away" with the song of summer? We can't say we love the video, but the track won't get out of our head!

"Get Lucky," Daft Punk

If Kristen Wiig is singing your song on Jimmy Fallon, you know you've made it.

"Come and Get It," Selena Gomez

It's a more mature tone than the Wizards of Waverly Place star has attempted before, but it works for us.

"Woman's World," Cher

We didn't think Cher had another song of summer in her, but "Woman's World" has become a gay staple from Fire Island to Palm Springs.

"We Can't Stop," Miley Cyrus

If this ubiquitous track becomes song of summer, it'll be the mellowest one in years.

"Cookie Thumper," Die Antwoord

Okay, we kinda put this one on the list for giggles. But Jinkx Monsoon says she's obsessed with this South African speed-rap duo, and that's good enough for us.

"Boy is a Bottom," Willam Belli, Detox & Vicky Vox

Yes, "Bottom" came out in December, but you can't deny it still plays at every party.

"Wake Me Up," Avicii

Avicii's new single is a little late out of the gate, but the Swedish mixmaster has already topped international charts with "Levels" and "I Could Be the One," so don't rule him out.
