Sons Of Gay Dad Share Their Upsetting Anti-Gay Bullying Experiences On YouTube

A gay dad took to YouTube recently to discuss with his two sons the anti-gay bullying they have had to face in school.

Kamaka Alameda, the Hawaiian father and YouTuber, asked his 5th grade son to describe some of the gay-bashing he has had to deal with.

“I was bullied because people would ask me about my father — if he was gay. And I would say ‘yeah, there’s nothing wrong with that…’" describes the boy. "I tried to walk away from this kid — he jumped on me and he slammed my face against a pole and gave me a black eye…They would call me gay, they would call me stupid, retard.”

The school said that it was not responsible for what Alameda's sons were dealing with, causing him to eventually decide to transfer the boys elsewhere. He's hoping his YouTube post helps others struggling with similar situations.

“I want to create an awareness that this happens to people in the community,” he says in the video. “If you step out and you’re not afraid to be who you are, sometimes you’re hated on…How I raise my children is that they can love whoever they want to love.”
