There were a lot of memorable moments at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, but one of the most intriguing has gone relatively under the radar: Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner meeting Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness backstage.
In a video from the VMAs uploaded to Entertainment Tonight’s Twitter page, the reigning Queen of the North encounters the Fab Five’s resident beauty and grooming guru IRL for the first time. The clip is a quick one, but each of its 45 seconds is absolutely precious.

It begins with Turner, a.k.a. Sansa Stark, crying out as she locks eyes with JVN, who’s also the host of the consistently fantastic GOT recap show Gay of Thrones. Naturally, the Queer Eye star lets out an ear-piercing shriek before… walking away? No, it’s not what you think! He is so shook he cannot even exist and must pause before reapproaching her and full-on embracing her like a long-lost child.
He goes on to congratulate the British actress on Game of Thrones’ recent series finale—leaning in adorably close when he fears he might spoil the ending for the two people on the planet who never watched it—and compliments her many fabulous lewks. Rightfully so. How many other badass monarchs can say they’ve successfully kept their luscious locks shiny and moisturized in the dead of a years-long winter?
Bend the knee, bitch.
Before JVN can escape her grasp, however, Turner calls for her hubby Joe Jonas over to get a proper introduction.
Jonas, of course, leans in for a hug, greeting JVN with what sounds suspiciously like a British accent (???) while Turner dies of suffocating excitement again in the background. JVN then compliments the Jo Bro singer’s cologne and gorgeous tattoos.
Because it’s Jonathan Van Ness, y’all. What were you expecting?
