"Star Trek" Fan Proposes To His Boyfriend On The Bridge Of The U.S.S. Enterprise

Jonathan Lilley planted a flag for gays in the final frontier this week when he proposed to his boyfriend at a London Star Trek convention.

Lilley's partner of two years, Tom Jenkins, was surprised by the proposal—which took place on a replica of the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise in front of friends and family, who were dressed as Star Trek characters.

Lilley says he planned the surprise, thought to be the first same-sex proposal at a Star Trek convention, for three months. “Star Trek has been a massive part of our relationship, it’s what we watch on a Sunday morning with breakfast in bed,” he told BuzzFeed.

Jenkins, who said yes, was "over the moon and completely shocked" by the surprise.

"I love John so much for what he has done and I am so thrilled and honored we have made history today."

Live long and prosper, fellas.
