Stefano Gabbana Once Asked A Female Friend To Be A Surrogate

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have everyone from Victoria Beckham to Courtney Love boycotting them after the Italian designers declared babies born through IVF or other procedures were “synthetic children.”

But it turns out Gabbana had seriously considered having a child of his own through surrogacy: The Telegraph reports that, back in 2006, he revealed he asked a female friend to be a surrogate mother for his child.

The designer told an Italian newspaper: “I want my own child, a biological child conceived through artificial insemination.” The friend, apparently, “thought it was a great idea”—but no offspring came of it.

Gabbana’s comments came one year after he and Dolce split, suggesting he was interested in raising the tot solo. At the same time, he insisted, “I am opposed to the idea of a child growing up with two gay parents—a child needs a mother and a father.’”

So maybe he and his gal pal were gonna do the whole The Next Best Thing thing and raise it together? In any case, the hypocrisy is unmistakable.
