Stephen Colbert reported on an insidious effort to brainwash Americans into supporting Vladimir Putin, last night on The Colbert Report: RT, or Russia Today, is a cable network available in some 85 million homes, but its funded primarily by the Kremlin.

Media analysts cite inveterate pro-Putin propaganda, with issues like human-rights abuse and economic corruption "either ignored or their significance played down." There's also virulent anti-American slam pieces, accusing the U.S. government of everything from inventing aerosol LSD (hey that sounds fun!) to infecting Nicaraguans with syphilis (ugh, not so fun).
