Stephen Moyer To Star In "The Sound Of Music" As Shirtless Captain Von Trapp

Stephen Moyer is packing away his fangs and stepping away from True Blood for a bit to take on the iconic role of nun-banging widow Captain Von Trapp in NBC's upcoming version of The Sound Of Music. We assume this means Liesl will be a faerie, the Baroness  will be a maenad and that dickhead Rolfe will be some sort of maniacal vampire.

Moyer will star opposite Carrie Underwood in the production, an actress known to many, of course, for her utterly forgettable work in films like Soul Surfer and one episode of How I Met Your Mother, who landed the role of Maria months ago. Meanwhile, the original Maria, Julie Andrews, will be taking on the role of someone who already has plans the night this TV movie premieres, so as much as she would love to watch it, she really just cannot find the time.

The Sound of Music jumps the shark makes its big debut December 5 on NBC, after a  super special 48-hour episode of The Voice.
