Christian Couple Claim They've Been Banned From Adopting Because They Oppose Gay Parents

The couple asked to adopt two foster kids when they heard they were going to a gay pair.

A couple made headlines in the UK after claiming their petition to adopt two foster kids was rejected when they revealed they were not in favor of LGBT people raising children.

The unnamed husband and wife have reportedly been caring for the youngsters for nearly a year, but put in a request to adopt when they heard a gay male couple had been approved as adoptive parents.

The Sunday Times reports that, when they heard, the Christian couple “expressed a degree of shock and asked if this was a ‘joke.'"

Two days later, the two formally applied to adopt the children, insisting the two needed a “mummy and daddy."

The local council denied their request, allegedly telling them, "you shared some opinions in relation to this proposed placement which are concerning... These views could be detrimental to the long-term needs of the children."

They were also reportedly told their three-bedroom home was too small to house the two adoptees and their other biological children.

The two have appealed the decision, insisting they “have not expressed homophobic views, unless Christian beliefs are, by definition, homophobic.”

"We are Christians and we expressed the view that a child needs a mother and a father," said the husband.

"We expressed our views in modest, temperate terms, based on our Christian convictions.'

Andrea Williams, head of the anti-LGBT group Christian Concern, has called out the incident, saying the couple's view "is lawful and mainstream.”
