Studio Ghibli's "The Tale of Princess Kaguya" Gets Trailer, Chloë Grace Moretz: WATCH

The latest animation masterpiece from Studio Ghibli, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, has a new trailer out—just months after the studio's founder, legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki, announced his retirement. (Sort of.)

Directed by Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies), The Tale of Princess Kaguya is one of the oldest legends in Japan, and one of the earliest forms of science fiction on record. It tells the story of a baby found inside a glowing stalk of bamboo who grows into a young beauty all the princes want to marry.

But for some odd reason she turns them all down. (Make of that what you will.)

Princess Kaguya was originally released in Japan in 2013—the American version features the voices of Chloë Grace Moritz, Lucy Lui and James Cann, Mary Steenburgen, Darren Criss, Beau Bridges and James Marsden.

Will Ghibli make magic without the man who brought us Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro? We'l definitely be checking it out to see.

The Tale of Princess Kayuga hits theaters October 17.
