Style: Carlos Campos Celebrates South American Culture With S/S 2012 Collection

Carlos Campos' spring/summer 2012 collection was a veritable celebration of South America---but of course not in the literal sense (hides The A-List: New York's Rodiney ). Inspired by the Aztec, Mayan and Incan cultures, the garments were vibrant in color---coral, golden yellow, azul (Rosetta Stone translation: blue), brown---and utilitarian in design.

Constructed of mostly light-weight cotton, the pieces seem to possess a functionality that is an attribute all to often absent in most menswear. Not to mention a versatility that will keep you on top of things (insert: wink)

The trousers and shorts all featured pleating details, which will be interesting to see translated on "normal" guys.

A double breasted suit in azul, was a standout; as was a cotton jumpsuit, and a green trench coat (or maybe it was the model wearing it!).

Color blocking, as seen on several runways this season, was done on everything from shirt collars to the waistbands of the trousers; and quite frankly, was done well.

The Takeaway: Knowing how to properly execute color blocking without looking like some weird walking puzzle.
