Bette Davis And Joan Crawford Share An Emotional Moment Backstage In New Scene From "Feud"

Susan Sarandon stops by "Today" and dishes about playing Bette Davis.

On Monday, Susan Sarandon was a guest on Today and she gave viewers their first look at a new scene from the upcoming FX anthology series, Feud.

Not only did Sarandon debut a scene between her and Jessica Lange, as Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, the Oscar-winning actress also let slip that Ryan Murphy had approached her about playing Davis years ago back when Feud was going to be a movie instead of an eight-hour miniseries.

"It just seemed like a one joke thing. They hate each other, they're bitchy... so what," Sarandon told Kathie Lee Gifford when explaining why the film version didn't work.

"When he [Murphy] placed it in the eight hours there could be a context and they could say something more about Hollywood and has it changed so much? What went on for aging actresses then? Or now?"

Watch Sarandon talk about playing Davis, how Hollywood has changed for older actresses and the debut of the Feud scene in the video below.

Feud debuts March 5 on FX.
