Suspect In Dallas BBQ Gay-Bashing In New York Is Reportedly Gay Himself
The man accused of attacking a gay couple in a Dallas BBQ restaurant in New York is gay himself, Gawker is reporting.
Video that surfaced after the May 5 brawl appears to show Bayna El-Amin, 41, breaking a chair over the heads of Jonathan Snipes, who was attacked along with his boyfriend, Ethan York-Adams.
Witnesses claim the assailant yelled "Take that, faggots" while kicking the men.
After El-Amin was identified, a dig through his social media presence unearthed clues that he might be gay, like El-Amin commenting on a YouTube video of a vogueing contest.
Gawker has additionally discovered what appears to be his El-Amin’s Facebook page, listed under an alias, with photos of a man practically identical to the person in the Dallas BBQ video and to El-Amin’s mugshots.
But the most telling was a post that discusses his male fiancé.
There is also an Instagram of El-Amin and his fiancé, with the caption "Bear and cub."
El-Amin is currently at large, and police believe he has fled the state of New York. If he's found and arrested, though, it's not clear what affect his reported sexual orientation could have on any hate-crime charges authorities may want to add.
