In what world do gay porn stars and Gossip Girl stars belong in the same room together? Well, if you’ve ever caught celebrity stylist Robert Verdi on TV (Anyone else miss his Logo show aptly titled The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi?), you know just how well-connected and well-respected he is. Which is why it’s no surprise that friends who came out to celebrate his new jewelry line, Yasmin & Jazmin’s Multiplicity by Robert Verdi, included everyone from Kelly Rutherford, Michael Lucas, and Kathy Griffin to Hayden Panettiere.

But despite the fabulous guest list of stars, it was hard to concentrate on anything but the sparkling statement pieces themselves. Robert was able to perfectly blend Yasmin & Jazmin’s Southeast Asian vibe into a collection he told me was inspired by a trip to India. The gorgeous sterling silvers, golds and rose golds complimented cuff links and bracelets perfectly, with the luxe dog tags all seeming like an upgrade from even the finest David Yurman pieces.

Robert Verdi rassles with fashion legend Betsey Johnson at his big show premiere in NYC. Spank him, Bets!!!!

The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi premieres tonight on Logo at 10:30pm ET. So what is it? It’s a reality/comedy which follows NYC stylist and fashion magnate Robert Verdi as he plots his way toward world domination. Along the way there are celebs pop in (Kathy Griffin, Vanessa Williams, Eva Longoria) as Robert terrorizes his staff — who are a kind of fantastic, very patient, sweet and hilarious crew.

The best part? Nothing about this show takes itself very seriously. And amid all the shrieking and pretense of shallowness, there’s a lot of heart and smarts and fun at work here.

Robert Verdi flanked by his saintly staff/cast. Mother Theresa who? These people are true martyrs.

The new queens of comedy? Kathy & Robert 4ever!

Fashion freaks and reality-TV loons take note: The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi debuts this coming Wednesday night on Logo at 10pm EST. Woo-hoo! But tonight in NYC there’s a big, splashy red-carpet premiere happening in Chelsea at about 7:30pm. Celebs are coming. Designers are coming! Media whores will be scraping for photo ops. What’s not to love?

Among those expected are SNL‘s Kristen Wiig, who may be my favorite funny woman ever. Or at least right now. I’m going to the shindig tonight so I’ll snap pics and take notes and report back. Hopefully I’ll end up sandwiched between Donatella Versace and Miss Piggy in a bathroom stall doing bumps of Emergen-C, but who can say?

Coming soon to Logo (clockwise, from top left): Ru takes you to school, Verdi gets big, Kept boys play house, and some florists are gonna get dirty.

This morning a Logo press release went out announcing some new shows for 2010. Some you know about already: Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race; The upcoming reality fashion-stylist-madness which is The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi; and the show I like to call “Real Houseboys of Eighth Avenue,” Kept (which is a reality show about kept boys and their sugar daddies in NYC). But holy crap there’s more gayness coming…

The network also announced that RuPaul’s Drag Race will give birth to a spin-off, RuPaul’s Drag U, wherein “RuPaul and other drag queens apply fairy godmother dust to the looks and lives of people in need of a little assistance.” I hope it’s as good as the original season of Charm School with Mo’Nique. That was TV gold.

And then, as if all of that weren’t gay enough for you, there’s The Arrangement which, although it sounds like the name of the next weak Sandra Bullock romantic comedy, is actually “an original series that follows the surprisingly intense action in a high-end floral design competition.” Surprisingly intense? As if. I’d only expect a bunch of queened-out florists competing over orchids and hydrangeas to be cutthroat and venomous. How did this one not end up on Bravo?

Does all of this sound gay enough for you? Too gay? Are you wondering like, er… What about all the non-queeny gays who are like, truckers or EMTs or oil-rig workers? There’s network for those folks, too. It’s called Discovery.

I’m hoping “Kept” is gonna look something like this. But trashier? And with more bedazzling going on.

But I have high hopes for the Robert Verdi show. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s totally fun. And Verdi and his staff are sort of reality comedy geniuses. It’s a nice surprise. And as for Kept… I’m grossed out, intrigued and in love with it all at once. Let’s just hope it lives up to all over collective best and worst expectations.

And here’s one more special image, just cuz… Whoever she is, she deserves her own show, too.

Watch a sneak peek of the first episode of the forthcoming Logo series The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi which is prancing its way on to Logo in February.

And contrary to what you may be thinking, the show is not just some bitchy, shallow, reality show following some wannabe TV star as he flounces around the world of fashion and media. I mean, it is sort of that BUT… It’s actually also sweet, funny and delightful. Really.

Robert Verdi has been popping up on TV forevah, dressing celebs, commenting on the fashions of First Ladies and Oscar winners on everything from CNN to Entertainment Tonight to Good Morning America. And on his new show, he’s scheming to become an international mega-brand. Like Martha Stewart meets Oprah meets Walt Disney, maybe?

But underneath the brutish commandeering, the pushyness, and the domination of his beleaguered staff lies lots of wit and heart. Neither of which you’ll really find on The Rachel Zoe Project (Am I lying?).

Below, watch Verdi come out to his nieces. It’s kinda genius, fun and seriously adorable.
