Last August, NBC's streaming comedy site Seeso launched Take My Wife, a series starring out comedians (and real-life couple) Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher.

Taking The L Word as a jumping off point, Take My Wife expanded on the idea of lesbians living and loving in L.A., and treated Esposito and Butcher's sexuality as a non-issue. Instead the hilarious show dealt with topics like prioritizing your relationship, creating stability with a creative career, and what to do when a hot actress wants a hands-on tutorial on how to play a lesbian.

So when Seeso announced it was shuttering, Take My Wife fans were devastated. Season Two had already been shot, but now had no place to call home. (Several Seeso shows are migrating to another site, VRW, but Wife is not one of them.)

"We found out from our execs at Seeso after we wrapped," Esposito tells NewNowNext. "They were really good people who fought hard for us."

Since finding out about Seeso's demise, she and Butcher have been waging a social-media campaign to encourage viewers to rally around the show, hoping to land it a new platform. They've also underscored how diverse Take My Wife's cast and crew is. (A quarter of the cast is women of color, for example, and more than half are LGBT—including Tegan and Sara, Clea Duvall, Brittany Ashley, Scout Durwood, and Her Story's Laura Zak and Jen Richards.)

"The Twitter campaign has brought some calls and emails, which is unbelievable," Esposito says. "I really just posted our stats behind the camera and in casting so folks would know it was possible to work that way. This has taken on a life of its own and that has me hopeful."

Butcher says they are grateful for the fan support they've received thus far. "We hope that we've shown it's possible to have a mission and be really funny and sweet and real."

Until Take My Wife finds a new home, you can find Butcher and Esposito performing weekly in the live comedy show "Put Your Hands Together" at UCB in Los Angeles, and on tour starting in September.
