Read “Me”: Taron Egerton Narrating Elton John’s Memoir Audiobook

The icon's first and only official autobiography will be released in October.

The library is open and the bitches are back.

Taron Egerton, who starred as Elton John in the biopic Rocketman, will channel John once again when he narrates the audiobook edition of Me, the music legend's forthcoming memoir, EW reports.

Henry Holt and Co.

“Elton John is a fascinating man, at times incredibly intimidating and yet very vulnerable; I have never met anyone like him,” said Egerton in a press release. “I was passionate about my role as Elton in the movie Rocketman and this feels like the perfect closing chapter to the whole experience. I am honored to have been asked to narrate Elton’s autobiography and I’m excited to get started.”

John himself will also lend his voice to the 13-hour recording of Me, which will cover his rise to fame, his substance abuse, and his relationship with husband David Furnish.

"My life has been one helluva roller coaster ride and I’m now ready to tell you my story, in my own words," John tweeted in March, describing the book as his "first and only official autobiography."

“I can’t wait for you to read it, because it’s the truth,” he said in an accompanying announcement video. “And so many books that’ve been written about me haven’t exactly been truthful. I can’t wait for you to see what I have to say about my life.”

“A multiple Grammy-winning legend and flamboyant superstar, Elton is the most enduringly successful singer/songwriter of all time,” wrote a representative for Henry Holt & Co., which will publish the 320-page memoir. “Fans have been eagerly waiting for him to tell his story. Now the wait is (almost) over.”

"I'm not prone to being a nostalgic person," John teased in a 2016 statement. "I'm often accused of only looking forward to my next gig or creative project. It's come as quite a surprise how cathartic I am finding the process of writing my memoirs. As I look back, I realize what a crazy life I have had the extreme privilege of living."
