Taron Egerton Performs "Tiny Dancer" With Elton John at Oscars Party

Egerton stars as John in the upcoming musical fantasy "Rocketman" this summer.

With Rami Malek taking home the Oscar for playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, Taron Egerton is not wasting an opportunity to campaign for the honor next year for playing another queer music icon—Elton John.

Sunday (February 24) at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s annual fundraising Oscars party, auctioneer Alexander Gilkes invited the "Rocketman" leading man onstage to sing one of John’s songs. Egerton only agreed if John accompanied him on piano, which turned into a tender surprise duet of “Tiny Dancer.”

Rocketman also stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin; Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid; and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother, Sheila Farebrother.

The film lands in theaters on May 31.
