What Gay Dance Anthem Did Taylor Swift Sample On "Look What You Made Me Do"?

You know what I mean.

Fans of Taylor Swift have likely called in sick today to digest "Look What You Made Me Do," the new single off her upcoming sixth album, Reputation.

The song is a clap-back to any number of dirty dogs who've done T-Swift wrong—ex-boyfriends, fellow pop stars, certain rap icons—and lets us know Taylor's not taking anyone' ish anymore.

"I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now," she declares. "Why? Oh, because she's dead."

But listeners with a knowledge of 90s dance music will recognize the bass line from one of the great gay one-hit wonders of that decade: Right Said Fred’s "I’m Too Sexy."

Well, Taylor certainly knows how to do a little turn on the catwalk. And she gave the guys their due—RSF's Fred and Richard Fairbrass and Rob Manzoli are given songwriting credits on the track, alongside Swift and Jack Antonoff.

Richard Fairbrass came out as bisexual fairly early on in his career, though brother Fred admits the duo's flamboyant approach turned off some labels and listeners.

"To be honest, we didn’t do ourselves any favors taking our tops off in the first video—everyone thought we were a couple of gym queens. Nowadays I don’t think you really get that reaction, but at the time we didn’t think it through."
