Taylor Swift’s “1989” Tour Welcomed Trans Model Andreja Pejić To The Stage

Trailblazing trans model Andreja Pejić had a moment in Taylor Swift’s spotlight Sunday night when she was invited on stage by her good friend at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

Each of the North American stops on Swift’s 1989 Tour have made headlines so far, due to the rotating cast of friends she’s been brining for onstage cameos. Since launching in New Jersey on July 10, the tour has hosted surprise performances from Nick Jonas, Lorde, and Jason Derulo — just to name a few — in different cities.

Pejić, British model Lily Donaldson, and singer Sam Hunt were the designated friends who showed for Chicago.

“Tonight [Andreja Pejić] and [Lily Donaldson] SHUT DOWN the runway. Crowd went insane!!” Swift wrote on Twitter, posting four images of the three friends dancing together and walking arm-in-arm up the runway:

Pejić marked the occasion with a Swift selfe on Instagram:

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a heightened profile since becoming the first transgender model to be profiled in Vogue in April. At the time, she told the magazine she preferred photo shoots to runway work because she “get[s] a little stressed with the runway.”

Well it sure doesn’t show!
