Teddy Awards Winners Celebrate Queer Film In Berlin: WATCH

Receiving a prize at the Teddy Awards is one of the highest honor an LGBT film can get, presented by way of the Berlin International Film Festival.  This year, the winning films ranged from emotionally intense drama to historically important documentaries.

Taking home the title of best film is the Brazilian Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho (The Way He Looks), which traces the budding relationship of directionless gay teenagers.  Best documentary went to the German-language film Der Kreis (The Cirlce) which investigates one of the first and only gay liberation communities to survive the Nazi regime.

Avant-gardist Bruce LaBruce was also awarded with a Special Jury prize for his film Pierrot Lunaire, an adaptation of the poem cycles of the same title by Arnold Schoenberg.
