Darren Criss’ first appearance on Glee is synonymous with “Teenage Dream,” the Katy Perry track that pieced pop culture and started the epic romance of Kurt and Blaine. The single was the first from the show to hit #1 on the Billboard charts, surpassing even “Don’t Stop Believing,” the unofficial show anthem. Now “Teenage Dream” is slated to make a rare second appearance on an upcoming episode of the show.
Glee has rarely repeated songs in their 4-year run, but “Teenage Dream,” as an acoustic version, is slated to appear on the Oct 4 episode, titled “The Break-Up.” While staging as not confirmed, an anonymous extra said the song is performed by Blaine early in the episode, possibly at a piano bar early, but definitely before the titular break up may occur.) The episode will also feature Kurt and Blaine singing No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” with Rachel and Finn while the foursome spend time in NYC.
We knew we’d need tissues for episode 4, but now we might need all the Kleenex in the New York metro area on standby. For a bit of a preview, fans can check out Darren Criss’ slowed-down acoustic version of the song that he’s sung at events over the past two years below.
