Terry Crews Files Charges Against Hollywood Exec Who Groped Him

Crews is also planning on filing a lawsuit against his attacker.

While many in Hollywood are coming forward with stories of sexual harassment and assault, few have pressed charges. Some fear retribution, others worry they won't be believed. NFL player-turned-actor Terry Crews is hoping to change that: The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star went to the LAPD yesterday to file a police report against the "high-level Hollywood executive" he claims groped him at a party last year.

Crews went public with his story last month as allegations against Harvey Weinstein began to surface.

“People have to be held accountable,” he told TMZ on Wednesday, adding that he is filing a lawsuit against his unnamed male perpetrator.

In a lengthy series of tweets on October 10, Crews wrote, “This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD. Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME."

He recounted that he and his wife were at a party when the man came over and groped his privates. "Jumping back I said 'What are you doing?' My wife saw everything and we looked at him like he was crazy. He just grinned like a jerk.”

Crews said that the only reason he didn’t “kick his ass right then” was because he worried about the repercussions of someone of his size and race beating up a “Hollywood Honcho.”

“I didn’t want to be ostracized—par for the course when the predator has power and influence,” Crews wrote. “I let it go. And I understand why many women who this happens to let it go." He added that he hoped his coming forward "will deter a predator and encourage someone who feels hopeless.”

Because the alleged incident occurred last year it is still within the statute of limitations in the state of California.
