A drunk old dude. Hysterical.
The new Adam Sandler film That’s My Boy comes out today, and even though we all know it will be awful and full of juvenile humor that no doubt involves bodily fluids and odd sexual partners, the film will still make $200 million and we can look forward to yet another Sandler comedy in roughly one year. So let’s at least have some fun reading the best of the reviews.
“Even with 87.5 years to go, the 21st century may never see a stupider comedy than That’s My Boy. But let’s be positive, and express it as a wish for the film-going masses: May this century never see a stupider comedy.” – Chicago Tribune
“Rejoice, fifth-grade fellas! That’s My Boy is a movie just for you. It has beer, hot-for-teacher sex, beer, gross-out sex, beer, strip clubs, beer, lots of bodily fluids and, mostly, a family of blue bloods gaga over an uncouth man-child.” – NY Times
“I know, when Sandler’s not trying he’s an easy target, and he’s not trying here. But honestly, this is one of those movies you feel stupider just for having sat through. I think I’m already worse at math.” – Arizona Republic
“The film is such a barren comic wasteland of scatology and misogyny that Vanilla Ice steals the film with a good-natured, self-deprecating portrayal of himself as Sandler’s sleazy party buddy.” – A.V. Club
“It’s monumentally coarse and vulgar, aimed at the mentality of a 14-year-old locked inside his father’s liquor cabinet, and nothing about it is funny, least of all Adam Sandler.” – San Fran Chronicle
