A Reality TV Show About L.A. Gay Club The Abbey Is Coming To E! TV

"What Happens at the Abbey" premieres in May.

The Abbey is L.A.’s most famous gay bar, and now its the scene of E!’s newest reality TV series, What Happens at The Abbey, premiering in May.

The show follows the club’s employees both on and off the clock, which staffer Elizabeth says, “means there’s a lot of fighting and a lot of f*cking!” Judging by the supertease the network released, though, the Abbey looks a lot straighter than we remember the last time we were there.

In an interview owner Dave Cooley claims “E! knows sexuality is a fluid concept and has done a great job capturing the complicated nature of modern romance.”

“Every night at The Abbey is a different adventure,” he adds. There are people visiting a gay bar for the first time, celebrities cutting loose, the staff hustling to fulfill their Hollywood dream, and all kinds of people looking for love, whether, gay, straight, lesbian or still figuring it out. There is something at The Abbey for everyone.”
