The trailer for Academy Award-winning director Sofia Coppola's upcoming film adaptation of The Beguiled gives a peek into the seductive and thrilling world of a Civil War-era boarding school.

The video opens on one of the young students discovering a wounded Yankee soldier (Colin Farrell) on the side of the road outside the school. She brings him back, where he's warmly welcomed by the other students and staff (Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst).

As he's the only male in the all-girls environment, tensions soon rise as the teachers—and one plucky student played by Elle Fanning—begin to fight for his affections while he recuperates.

Though the trailer doesn't reveal much, it's clear that things quickly spiral out of control, as the competition between the Southern belles intensifies into a matter of life or death.

The Beguiled hits theaters June 23.
