"The Carrie Diaries" 2.04 Can't Fight This Feeling

Previously, on The Carrie Diaries

Walt and Bennet take another step in their relationship thanks to an office interloper.

His name is Blake, and he's all wrong for puppydog Walt. He's forward and pushy and ... not Bennet. Besides, BenWa is a hell of a lot better then ... Blalt.

They meet when Walt is visiting Carrie, and Blake mentions how adorable Walt is. Walt and Carrie are taken aback, but Bennet pushes the two of them together, all but handing them a key to a Motel 6 and an industrial sized bottle of lube.

Later, Walt comments on how awkward the moment was, but Bennet is fine with it ... allegedly, and lets him know, in a hilariously passive-aggressive exchange.

"Was that weird for you? Cause it was really weird for me"

"It wasn't exactly comfortable, but rules are rules, and I've always said that we're not exclusive."

"So you think I should go out with him?"

"It's your call. I'd be a hypocrite if I said no. If you want to go out with a guy who wears a suit and sells ads for a living, who am I to stop you?

Oh Bennet.

Obviously, Bennett is starting to regret his matchmaking, especially when Walt walks in wearing a skinny tie, which we all know meant one of two things back in the mid-80's: You were either Alex P. Keaton, or you wanted your gay virginity taken.

Sure enough, Blake arrives to take Walt on their date, but a fumbling, stumbling Bennet still insists he's fine with it.

Of course, Bennet isn't really fine with it, and when Blalt show up at the restaurant for their date, he's there waiting for them. Blake reads the situation, and says he doesn't want to get involved in any "psycho office romance drama", and takes his leave. Walt and Bennet finally have the "exclusive: discussion.

"What do you think you're doing? If you had a problem with me dating someone, then you should have said something. And p.s. you're the one who told me I should go out with him in the first place."

"You're absolutely right. I know I acted crazy. But you dating someone else? It drove me crazy. I want to be exclusive."

"Why didn't you just say that? I didn't even want to go on a date with that guy."

"I don't want you going on dates with anyone"

"Except you. I hope."

"Except me. Is that okay? If we're exclusive?"

Walt gives him his answer.

There were some other non-Benwa things happening. Carrie tried to get an interview with the press-shy young author of a not new play (whose backstory is very Ordinary People), but ended up falling for him, to the disappointment of Larissa.

Carrie and her sister ran afoul of the original Problem Child, and threatened to atomic wedgie him til his nuts popped.

And I now am convinced that Sebastian is a big loser who will never amount to anything. Why?

This.

How in the HELL do you get a Game Over on level 1-3 of Super Mario? That takes a special kind of suck.
