Who could get Jack Black, Margaret Cho, Kristen Schall, and Sarah Silverman to unequivocally sing their praises?
Lesbian comedian Tig Notaro that’s who.
HBO lined up some major comic talents for the promo for Notaro’s first comedy special, Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted, airing August 22.
“She’s a rare panther,” notes Black. “That’s why I wore this shirt.”
Schaal and others describe her as a “huge force,” “mysterious,” “new,” “my favorite,” “the best,” “magical,” and “pure gold.”
In response, Tig deadpans,”This is uncomfortable for me. I’m actually not a fan of any of those people.”
A comic’s comic, Notaro is known for her distinctive storytelling and offbeat sense of humor. In a legendary set from 2012, she dove into deeply personal material, including the death of her mother, a difficult breakup and facing a breast cancer diagnosis.
Over the course of this new one-hour special, Notaro, 44, covers everything from the search for the perfect Santa Claus, getting screened by the TSA and bringing her girlfriend to meet her family in Mississippi.
