The CW is set to make history after ordering a new pilot for what could become the first American TV show to feature a gender non-conforming lead character, Deadline reports.

Glamorous, an hourlong drama, will be executive-produced by out screenwriter Jordon Nardino, as well as Damon Wayans Jr. and Kameron Tarlow of Two Shakes Entertainment.

Written by Nardino, Glamorous centers on a gender non-conforming recent high school graduate who starts interning at a cosmetics company whose products they previously panned on YouTube.

Nardino has written or produced shows such as Smash, Desperate Housewives, Gilmore Girls, GCB, Quantico, and Star Trek: Discovery.

Showtime’s Billions made history in 2017 with TV’s first major non-binary character, played by non-binary actor Asia Kate Dillon. Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina also features a non-binary character played by non-binary actor Lachlan Watson.

The Glamorous lead would join numerous LGBTQ characters on the CW’s current roster of shows, including Riverdale and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

The network is also making history with TV’s first trans superhero, played by trans activist Nicole Maines, on Supergirl. Batwoman, starring genderqueer actress Ruby Rose as the titular lesbian superhero, is set for fall.
