The Doritos Boycott Backfires, "Sherlock" Sets The Date: BRIEFS

Plus annoying questions for bisexuals, and what exactly is in a hot dog?

Birthday shoutouts go to Dylan McDermott (above), who is 54, Patrick Breen is 55, Hillary Clinton is 68, Jaclyn Smith is 70, and Tom Cavanagh is 51.

A housekeeping note - You may have noticed a lack of posts on The Backlot page. Going forward, the TBL page will be just for the regular TBL columns (Briefs, soaps), and the few recaps we still do. You'll be able to find standalone posts from TBL writers on the main NNN page, along with the fabulous work that our colleagues at NNN do.

But I will feature links to the best that the main page has to offer everyday in Briefs, so ...

Here are the most annoying questions that people ask bisexuals.

Danny Pintauro: "I'm not here to tell the story they want me to tell."

"I hope to be igniting a fire within our community to rally as hard to remove HIV and meth from the gay community as we have just recently rallied to achieve marriage equality. We know how to rally, its time we rallied within. And I hope to be speaking with people regularly in some way... perhaps a Youtube channel or column, to give face to the many people who chose to come out of the HIV closet, who choose to be proud of the fact that they are undetectable and taking care of themselves, or who may still be in the middle of it."

Report: Human DNA found in hot dogs. Does this surprise anyone?

Don't tell Todd Starnes or One Million Moms, but that Doritos boycott flopped big time.

Here's the new trailer for the Sherlock special, The Abominable Bride, which will air Friday, Jan 1st at 9 PM ET on PBS.

"The special will be a ghost story and will debut on TV in the US and the UK on January 1, 2016. That’s the first time the show has debuted simultaneously in the States and in Britain. The special will also get a theatrical release, arriving in theaters on January 5 and January 6. The theatrical version will include “20 minutes of extra footage including a guided set tour and a making-of featurette.”

On a personal note, I have a special announcement to make:

And here's The Weekly ShoutOUT™. Each week we're going to focus on one out athlete/performer and feature a daily pic and career timeline. We'll be showcasing the big names, but also the lesser-known gay and bisexual celebs who deserve more recognition. This week we give a ShoutOUT™ to ... Darren Young

31-year-old Frederick Douglas Rosser III made his professional debut in 2002 and spent several years on the independent circuit until he was discovered by WWE, where he started his career as part of the tag team The South Beach Party Boys. He was mentored by CM Punk, until Punk had enough of his bullshit.

Three years ago I presented my personal favorite Briefs list, The 100 Greatest Lost Hits of The 80's, and because if there's one thing Hollywood has taught us, it's that sequels and reboots and remakes are ALWAYS better then the original, we're going to the well again with The 100 Greatest Lost Hits of The 80's Part 2: The Even More Forgotten

We'll be spotlighting 100 more of the greatest minor hits of the decade, the songs you don’t hear on any 80’s nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty … or top forty. Hopefully these forgotten gems may ring a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provide a pop music history lesson.

At #80 is "Lay Down Your Arms" by The Graces

After The Go-Gos went on an extended hiatus, Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin embarked on successful solo careers, and Charlotte Caffey formed The Graces with Meredith Brooks and Gia Ciambotti. They released their only album Perfect View in 1989, and when it failed on the chart, they disbanded, with Meredith going on to score one of the iconic songs of the 90's with "Bitch." But The Graces did give us the spirited single "Lay Down Your Arms," which hit #56 in September 1989.

Belinda would later release her cover version.
