The "Drag Race" Queens Are Going All Out To Raise Money For Puerto Rico

Plus: How other LGBT personalities are lending a helping hand.

In the wake of Hurricane Maria's devastation in Puerto Rico, LGBT personalities are using their star power to help the island.

On November 6, Drag Race star Phi Phi O'Hara is organizing Queens United/Reinas Unidas, a benefit show in Minneapolis featuring more than 20 RPDR stars, including Acid Betty, Ginger Minj, Bob the Drag Queen, Chad Michaels, Jiggly Caliente and Katya.

“My husband is Puerto Rican," Phi Phi told Billboard."And has family members still on the island that he has yet to hear from so this hits close to home.”

“It doesn't take money to show compassion and empathy for people who are struggling in Puerto Rico,” Phi Phi said. “What it does take is a leader to help rebuild and show the people of Puerto Rico that they matter and we as humans, no matter race, sex, gender, religious background, see someone struggle, you put out a hand to lift them up.”

Other queens joining the show include Bob the Drag Queen, Alexis Michelle, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Jade Jolie, Jade Sotomayor, Jaidynn Diore Fierce, Jessica Wild, Kimora Blac, Naysha Lopez, Nicole Paige Brooks, Madame LaQueer, Manila Luzon, Mariah Paris Balenciaga, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Mystique Summers, Ongina, Pandora Boxx and Yara Sofia.

Proceeds from the show benefit Somos Una Voz, a relief initiative started by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.

Queens United/Reinas Unidas, takes place November 6 at First Avenue in Minneapolis.

Shangela did her part for relief efforts, too. Over the weekend she flew into San Juan to hand out donated goods.

Drag Race stars aren't the only ones helping with disaster relief: After raising millions, San Juan native Ricky Martin flew to Puerto Rico again this week with fiancé Jwan Yosef to deliver humanitarian aid in person.

Yosef posted a selfie of the pair on Instagram.

Martin's YouCaring.com crowdfunder has raised more than $3.6 million to date.

Other LGBT performers and musicians are also putting on benefit shows: On October 12, Dorian Wood, Alice Bag, AB Soto, Monica Palacios, and Drag Race's own Jessica Wild perform at "Turn It Up!" at the Echoplex in L.A. Proceeds went to Direct Relief, which benefits residents in Puerto Rico and across Mexico and the Caribbean.

And queer Latina rocker Cristy Road is playing a benefit at Brooklyn's Silent Barn on October 18.
