The Dress Code For Marc Jacob's NYFW Party Requires Gold Lamé Turbans And "Grace Jones Butch Realness"

Guests are also REQUIRED to ride in on a white horse.

We are 15 days away from New York Fashion Week and already calling the highlight of it all: the dress code for the Marc Jacobs-hosted release party of Gloss–a new book about ‘70s photo legend Chris Von Wangenheim–has us gagging!

We caught up with Marc Jacob's longtime BFF, Roger Padilha, who co-authored Gloss with his brother, Mauricio.

Marc and I used to go to go to a club called Jackie 60 in the 90s and it always had this insane dress code that you had to follow that matched the theme of whatever the party was that week–The doorgirls, Kitty Boots or Connie Girl, wouldn't let you in if you didn’t adhere to it.

Before that in the 70s, the Mindshaft had a dress code where you had to wear very specific things to get in. We were having a conversation about how great that was and how party goers really became part of the experience those clubs were trying to capture and how great it would be if our party did the same.

Judging by the dress code, we'd say they're well on their way to achieving this. I mean, the Jerry Hall side-swept hair requirement alone.

Padilha expressed his delight in having Jacobs host what it is sure to be the kiki of all kiki's.

Marc and I are very close and he has been totally supportive of this book from the start.

When Mauricio and I started on this project, I obsessively ran everything by all my friends–MJ included–from my worries about this particular subject to the titles I was throwing around at first to the actual writing on daily basis, so it’s really cool to have him host this party. He’s been there from the very beginning.

The epic event will take place at Tunnel, the legendary 80s nightclub that closed its doors in 2001, but will reopen for one night only.

"It's going to be about abandon and fun and dressing up and being in Studio 54 like it's 1977 again."
